QUALITY MANAGEMENT: MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd operate a UKAS certified quality management system accredited to ISO 9001 and externally audited by SGS UK Ltd. Quality Plan’s are developed to establish specific control procedures on a project-by-project basis providing a framework for best practice project management and quality control.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: Similarly an environmental management system accredited to ISO 14001 is operated and externally verified by SGS UK Ltd. Our environmental management procedures support the commitments within our Environmental Policy. At a strategic level our business activities have been subject to significance testing and objectives and targets established to maximise recycling opportunities and secondary use of material simultaneously reducing waste to landfill. Strategies have been developed with the support of the Carbon Trust to reduce both CO2 emissions and energy consumption.

HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT: MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd’s commitment to maintaining the health and safety of our operatives, the general public and others affected by our activities is total. Implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System accredited to ISO 18001 and externally verified by SGS UK Ltd is evidence of moving beyond mere legal compliance to develop exemplar best practice. Our Health and Safety Policy sets out our approach, objectives and arrangements for managing health and safety. The Policy states our commitment to take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our employees and persons affected by our operations. The Policy commits the company to creating and maintaining a positive safety culture and securing the participation of our employees and to ensuring that adequate resources are allocated to pro-actively manage risk, provide instruction and training and monitor health and safety performance. The Policy is the formal statement of our responsibility to comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and for implementation and periodic review of our health and safety management system to ensure its continued effectiveness.


ARRANGEMENTS: Our Health and Safety Policy incorporates Arrangements for its implementation in line with the formal delegacy structure of the company and establishes corporate responsibilities for health and safety at Director, Contracts Manager, Site Agent, Foreman and Operative levels. The Arrangements document details how MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd will deliver its policy commitments and discharge its legal health and safety responsibilities generally and specifically under the Construction [Design and Management] Regulations 2007.  With respect to the latter and as Principal Contractors the document details responsibilities for review and evaluation of client pre-construction information, development of project Construction Phase Plans, collation of information for submission to the CDM co-ordinator and incorporation within the project Heath and Safety File on completion. The arrangements details how MacLay Civil Engineering Ltd meet the commitments made in our statement of intent and measures put in place to eliminate or reduce hazards and risks.

Safety Schemes in Procurement: Health and Safety competence is principally evidenced by virtue of having satisfied the stringent requirements of ISO 18001 and the principal recognised Safety Schemes in Procurement [SSIP] within the construction industry:
